The NBA’s commitment to our men and women in uniform is personified by their NBA Cares Hoops for Troops initiative. Hoops for Troops is a year-round initiative led by the NBA, its teams and players in collaboration with the Department of Defense, USO and other military and veteran serving organizations to honor active and retired service men, women, and their families.
This season, the Disposable Heroes Project (DHP) is one of those service organizations. The week of November 3 - November 11, 2015 is NBA Hoops for Troops Week with the New Orleans Pelicans. The NBA and Pelicans will be honoring the military all week long.
The Pelicans have home games on November 3, 6, and 10 during Hoops for Troops Week and November 10 is Veterans Appreciation Night. The DHP will be sending 10 people to the November 3rd Pelicans vs. Orlando Magic game for Veterans Appreciation Night. DHP will be active with The Pelicans for all of Hoops for Troops Week.
Another key sponsor to the NBA Cares Hoops for Troops Initiative is Sony PlayStation. Sony has joined the NBA and Department of Defense around a shared Commitment to Service, where teams and players will participate side-by-side with military members in hands on service events around the country, helping to improve our communities: DHP is one of those organizations that will be serving side-by-side with the Pelicans this year.
